Today I am glad because I am featuring here one of my favourite writers of erotica stories: Anya Breton. She is not only a great writer, but she is also a wonderful friend, who always knows when someone needs some yummy vegan chocolate to feel better. Get to know her, get to know her writing, and enjoy her interview.

  1. Describe yourself.
I’m a nerd or maybe a geek. Ah heck, I’m both.

  1. What is your favourite fruit flavour?
Grape.

  1. What is your favourite day of the week?
Saturday

  1. Which is your favourite time of the day?
Late evening

  1. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Night all the way

  1. What is your favourite breakfast meal?
These days it's blueberry waffles.

  1. What is your favourite colour and why?
Green. Really, it’s black but everyone at work gives me a hard time about always looking like I’m going to a funeral so when I get asked what color I like best, I say green

  1. Which is your most favourite book ever?
I’d have to say Phantom by Susan Kay. I found it at a library when I was in high school. Years later I had a burning urge to read it again. I found another copy of it and reading the second time was every bit as wonderful as the first. (I’m not a fan of re-reading books)

  1. What kind of music do you like?
All kinds. My taste is mercurial but my favorite band for the past three years has been Florence and the Machine.

  1. Which is your favourite genre of films?
Probably Romance/RomCom

  1. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth?
I haven’t been to many places but of then ones I’ve been to, I love New Orleans the best.

  1. Which animal would you want to be and why?
A tiger. They’re big, beautiful and have sharp claws

  1. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
Vlad III Dracula, Erik (aka The Phantom of the Opera) and probably William Shakespeare.  I love Shakespeare’s works and I’d like to meet the alleged men behind the classic tales.

  1. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
Enough money to get rid of my debt (and my family’s debt too), my family’s continued health and the elusive goal to be a full-time author.

  1. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive?
I don’t suppose electricity is an option? :D
I’m coming up blank. The idea of being stranded depresses me greatly. I’d love for a satellite phone so I could phone someone to come get me. And a hot guy to keep my mind off how hopeless the circumstances are. Maybe two hot guys. Yes, make that two. I think I’d go a bit crazy without music for several weeks. So I’d definitely need one of those guys to have a good singing voice. Does that count as a thing?
Food and water would also be nice, or a way to get both. Have I used up all my things?

  1. If you could be anyone, who would you be?
I like being me. I just want to be without debt and without having to work my day job.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself?
Have you noticed the reoccurring debt theme? That would be the thing I wish I could change.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Travel the world.

  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?
Travel the world!

  1. If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?
Indulging in every guilty pleasure I can imagine because I’m a wicked, wicked woman.

  1. Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid?
I was very nice. That’s probably why I’m naughty now.

  1. What was the happiest moment in your life?
I have loads of little happy moments spattered through my life. I couldn’t put a finger on just one. (I know, boring answer)

  1. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Probably still working a day job and still writing at night.

  1. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
Grocery shopping in full clown-white & costume.

  1. What is your definition of an incredible weekend?
I miss the beach here in Indiana. An incredible weekend would be spent relaxing on the soft sand beside warm water.

  1. Which is the best holidays you have ever had?
Every Halloween is awesome!

  1. Have you got a phobia you want to share?
I don’t have any severe phobias but bugs make me jumpy.

  1. What makes you angry?
Unfairness.

  1. What do you do when you feel sad?
Eat chocolate.

  1. Who or what inspires you?
I find inspiration in music, movies, books, works of art and people watching.

  1. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
My latest release, erotic romance, Wickedly Good is out November 9th. It’s a paranormal romance published with Ellora’s Cave as part of their Halloween “Hex Appeal” series. The blurb is:

It’s wrong. Wicked. As coven priest, Aston should know better. But he can’t help his feelings for Gemma. Too bad she likes his brother Drew—his no-good, cheating, engaged brother who takes what he wants regardless of who gets hurt. Aston tries to warn Gemma, but when he steps into his brother’s room and the lights go out and she presses herself against him…
Air witch Gemma has lusted after Drew for years. When she gets her chance to spend a steamy night with him, she takes it. As he makes love to her in the darkness, as he makes her come again and again, she can’t help but think he’s different somehow—taller, more thoughtful. And that facial hair that abrades her skin in some seriously naughty places…how did he grow that so fast?
By day, Aston seems dark and frightening. By night, he rocks Gemma’s world. If he could only convince her to see the truth—he may not be his brother, but he loves her more than Drew ever could.

Today I am featuring author Dana Griffin, who recently published his first book. Get to know the author, or try to among his many antics, and enjoy.

  1. Describe yourself.
I’m tall, dark and handsome. Some people swear I look just like Brad Pitt. I wish. I’m a middle age husband/pilot/writer/dreamer/dog lover/procrastinator.

  1. What is your favourite fruit flavour?
Chocolate. What? That’s not a fruit?

  1. What is your favourite day of the week?
The day I’m not working. My work schedule varies so I seldom have the same days off each week. Although I love my job, I love being home.

  1. Which is your favourite time of the day?
10:12 a.m. Not really. Hmm … I don’t think I have a favorite time.

  1. Are you a morning person or a night person?
If given a choice, I’d stay up late and sleep in. My work schedule varies so I have to adapt all the time to working either early morning, or all night.

  1. What is your favourite breakfast meal?
Steak and eggs, with thick slabs of whole wheat toast and lots of coffee. Leave the pot at the table.

  1. What is your favourite colour and why?
Blue, because its the color of the sky where airplanes fly. Or, because that’s my eye color. Wow, If I use that logic, imagine what my eyes would look like if I said my favorite color was orange.

  1. Which is your most favourite book ever?
I only get one? Hmmm … why are the tough questions in the middle? I don’t know if I can name a most favorite book ever. I’ve read so many good books that I loved, picking one as my favorite is imposible. Most of my reading has been the popular books over the last forty years. I haven’t read that many of the classics.

  1. What kind of music do you like?
Popular rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Although, once in awhile I’ll get out of my stuck in the same groove mode and hear a new song, or group I like.

  1. Which is your favourite genre of films?
Romance. Just kidding. Action adventure, or suspense. But I also love a movie with a great story where the characters face incredible odds, but managed to get out of the situation their in with the help from others.

  1. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth?
It has to be in this Earth? Damn. I was going to say, the Sea of Capricorn on the moon. Great place to vacation. But since it has to be in this Earth, doesn’t that mean under ground? Well then, I love Mammoth Cave or Carlsbad Caverns. Okay, I’m being a wise-ass. Home in Louisville Kentucky. But there are so many other places I love too. Like, New England, the Pacific Northwest, the Rockies.

  1. Which animal would you want to be and why?
Finally an easy question. A dog. I’d love to love as unconditionally as they do.

  1. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
Great. Back to the hard questions. Real would be Harlan Coben, Lisa Gardner and J. K. Rowling. Because I love their work and hope I might sipón some of their talent off them. In Ms. Rowling’s case, maybe some of her money. Fictious would be Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.

  1. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
Peace on earth, good will to men, and unlimited coffee. Okay, I suppose you want the serious answer. To know the cause of cáncer, so we could find a cure for it. How to make man love his fellow man. And to rid the world of selfishness. And to have unlimited time to write and that my books would be best sellers and people would praise them. Oh, that was more than three. Oops. Okay, the cáncer, love man, and selfishness are my real answers.

  1. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive?
My wife, unlimited wáter and coffee, (is that two or three?) peanut butter M &M’s (they have protein in them), dark chocolate, and a knife. I know, that’s more than five, but I’m needy that way.

  1. If you could be anyone, who would you be?
Paul McCartney. No, Britney Spears (not really). I’m very happy being myself. I’d rather not be anyone else.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself?
I wish I wasn’t as judgmental of others.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Go into outerspace. How cool would that be?

  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?
Before or after I bought the jet to fly myself around in? I would like to set up an organization that helped people in need become self sustaining.

  1. If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?
Making love. I’d want to be with my wife enjoying whatever we wound up doing.

  1. Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid?
Regrettably, I was a nice kid. The naughty kids had more fun. Maybe that’s why I write books where my characters get into situations I hope I never do.

  1. What was the happiest moment in your life?
Oh, great. Another hard question. I’ve had thousands and thousands happy moments. It’ll be hard to say what was the happiest. The day my wife and I married rates right up there as one of them. The day I soloed an airplane. The day my step-daughter and her husband made me a grandfather to twins. Every day I wake up.

  1. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Still answering this questionaire. Does this thing ever end? Still flying for an airline and writing every spare moment.

  1. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
The day I saved the world from ending by hunting down and arresting the guy releasing the deadly virus. Oh, I was suppose to give a serious anwer. Sorry, nothing is coming to mind.

  1. What is your definition of an incredible weekend?
Any weekend my wife and I have off together with no plans other than enjoy each other’s time. That would usually have to be during a vacation. When off together at home, we don’t have weekends like that as there is always something going on to take us away from this idle time.

  1. Which is the best holidays you have ever had?
That weekend at The Sea of Capricorn on the moon. Best holiday ever. Oh, okay. The trip to the Pacific Northwest and Yellowstone National Park with our camper three years ago.

  1. Have you got a phobia you want to share?
Answering lengthy questionaires with a bunch of personal questions. I fear they’ll never end and I’ll get the questions wrong. What will people think of me?

  1. What makes you angry?
Lenghty questionnaires. Seriously, selfish people.

  1. What do you do when you feel sad?
Isolate. If I’m really sad, I’ll cry. I’m not afraid to admit it.

  1. Who or what inspires you?
All of the great authors who write such incredible stories that make me anxious to read their next book inspire me as a writer. As a person, the single parents who raise great children do. Or, the leaders in government or business who say, “I will not treat others bad just because I can.” Unfortunately there aren’t that many who do that. So I’d say the person who’ll do something for someone else for the simple act of helping another, that person inspires me.

  1. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
Finally.

My first novel, The Cover-Up, is an airline thriller. Here’s the blurb on the back cover:

Omega Airlines Boeing 737 blows a tire on takeoff from New York’s LaGuardia Airport and crashes into Flushing Bay. The Captain and ten people are killed; the First Officer and fifty-eight injured.
His divorce imminent, Omega Airlines Pilot Instructor Kyle Masters is brought in to assist the NTSB’s accident investigation. He and NTSB Investigator Lori Almond discover someone had played a role in the accident.
Determined to absolve the crew and the airline of full responsibility for the disaster, Kyle uses his operational knowledge – and healthy dose of humor. With Lori’s expertise in accident investigations, the duo close in on their target, putting their lives, and Kyle’s family’s, in danger.

It was released on Amazon October, 14th. I am presently writing a stand alone novel that follows The Cover Up with the same protagonist. I hope to have it finished by this time next year if I ever get this questionnaire finished.

I’ve been a pilot for over twenty-five years and employed by a major U.S. airline for the last fifteen.

Ben Ditmars is an amazingly talented young writer. I met him on Facebook, and since I read his writing for the first time I knew he was special. You can read my reviews of his books in my Book Reviews section, just clicking on the button you can find in the description of this page. I am glad anytime I happen to meet talented new writers. So get to know him and I dare you not to like him. Enjoy!

Describe yourself.
I’d like to think I’m a lot of things.  I’m a poet, fiction writer, ocarina player and occasionally a dark wizard.

What is your favourite fruit flavour?
It really depends on the season.  In the early fall I enjoy apples.  Later in the fall it’s cranberries.  Are berries a fruit?  I’m going with it for now.

What is your favourite day of the week?
I’m a traditional person with this.  My favorite day is Friday.  It’s just exciting.  There’s the excitement of getting off work and looking forward to the weekend.

Which is your favourite time of the day?
Ah, this is a tough one.  I’m a huge insomniac and fiend of the nighttime.  Maybe Midnight?  The energy of the evening is still there and it is technically day in accordance with the question.

Are you a morning person or a night person?
I’m definitely a night person one-hundred percent.  I hate waking up but I’ll stay up all night, even if there’s nothing to do.

What is your favourite breakfast meal?
My favorite is a bagel sandwich from McDonald’s.  I love both varieties.

What is your favourite colour and why?
There’s something about green.  It’s mysterious and natural at the same time.

Which is your most favourite book ever?
I hope people don’t think I’m juvenile for this but the last Harry Potter book really moved me.  I know there’s better written books, but still.  It was the conclusion of a journey I began in my youth and ended in adulthood.  I think with many books we read them for a year or two, complete the series and move on, because it’s already been out.  With Harry Potter, I grew up with Rowling’s stories and her characters.

What kind of music do you like?
I’m a musical polyglot.  I listen to pop, classic rock, classical music, etc. The only genre I cannot get into is newer country.  Johnny Cash, is great.

Which is your favourite genre of films?
I love science fiction and fantasy, as well as comedy.

Which is your most favourite place in this Earth?
There’s a place in Polaris, Ohio I can’t get enough of.  It’s this small strip mall and at night when the lights are on and fountain flows, it’s just mesmerizing.

Which animal would you want to be and why?
I’d like to be a sea turtle, please.  Can you imagine swimming in the current and having a permanent back pack?  I can.

If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
I would choose J.R.R. Tolkien, Edgar Allen Poe and Vincent Van Gogh. Think of the conversations and the perspectives on history… Wow, I’m a nerd.

If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
I will ask my genie for 1.) My family and friend’s health 2.) To be a rich author who travels the world writing 3.) The power to fly and have no one laugh at my ridiculous superhero costume.

If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive?
Flint; A fishing pole; Books; Books; Books

If you could be anyone, who would you be?
Dumbledore

What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself?
I would make myself more confident.

What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Rule the world (with love).

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would donate to all the charities I could, travel the world and build a big house for all my writer friends to come live in.

If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?
I would eat a good meal, laugh with friends and find a miracle cure.

Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid?
Decidedly naughty.  I wasn’t always the nicest person.  There’s a lot of things I did and said to people I regret

What was the happiest moment in your life?
Probably earlier this year when I sent out a bunch of signed books people bought.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Hopefully teaching, having written more books and traveled to several new places.

What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
I once licked a stranger.  I’m sure that sounds crazy.  A girl had made a bet with her friend she couldn’t get a stranger to lick her face.  So I helped out.  I’m a humanitarian like that.

What is your definition of an incredible weekend?
Reading, writing, a fire with friends

Which is the best holiday you have ever had?
I think it was a tie between many while my grandparents were still alive.  My family used to visit with them and the rest of my mother’s family at Thanksgiving.  We had it in this huge, cozy, warm barn where we played board games and talked.

Have you got a phobia you want to share?
It’s not a phobia I refuse to face but I hate driving on really fast, busy highways.  It really frightens me.

What makes you angry?
Ignorance, rudeness bigotry, hate, computers, the internet not working

What do you do when you feel sad?
I put on some music, maybe light a candle, talk to a friend; maybe a drink or two.

Who or what inspires you?
The people in my life, of course; loves, friends, the indie community.

Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
Thank you so much for the questionnaire and opportunity, Cinta.  I have a collection of short plays titled Ten Minutes in Heaven.  It covers a wide range of topics.  One of my favorites features Edgar Allen Poe and Vincent Van Gogh trying to talk a college freshman out of suicide.  Another is a modern day take off of Macbeth.  Together, there are ten, and it’s a wild ride.

Lindsay Avalon is a fantastic friend and fellow author that I met on Facebook. She is about to be published and I wanted her to talk about her projects here. So get to know her. You won't regret that.
  1. Describe yourself. I am a person who’s hyper and proud of her insanity. I love to laugh and just have fun. I also tend to be very loud when talking to someone in person, partially because I literally cannot hear how loud I really am. I think it makes up for being so short!
  2. What is your favourite fruit flavour? Strawberry
  3. What is your favourite day of the week? Saturday
  4. Which is your favourite time of the day? Night time. I do my best writing at night too
  5. Are you a morning person or a night person? Night person, definitely. I may wake up early, but it takes forever for me to really get going.
  6. What is your favourite breakfast meal? Just about any breakfast food but especially eggs
  7. What is your favourite colour and why? Blue because it reminds me of the ocean
  8. Which is your most favourite book ever? This is so hard because I can never pick favorites. The closest would probably be Branded By Fire by Nalini Singh
  9. What kind of music do you like? Folk metal, symphonic metal, Celtic music, trailer music (like from movie/TV trailers). Pretty much anything with a fast rhythm
  10. Which is your favourite genre of films? I think action or comedy
  11. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth? Disney World!
  12. Which animal would you want to be and why? I think a dolphin. I’ve always loved the ocean
  13. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why? Oh dear, I have no idea haha. Umm one would be my great-grandma because she was always the most amazing storyteller. Another would be Roarke from J.D. Robb’s In Death series because he’s my fictional crush. And for the last, my husband (corny I know)
  14. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?  This is always a tough one lol. Umm 1. The ability to be able to eat as much bad food as I want without any negative effects, 2. My own personal library that never ends, and 3. For my friends and family to always be happy
  15. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive? My husband, my mini schnauzer, my kindle with some way to keep it charged, lotion, and chapstick. I think that might total 6 but can we pretend?
  16. If you could be anyone, who would you be? Myself. It took me a long time to be happy with who I am, but now I wouldn’t want to be anyone else!
  17. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself? I’d love to be more organized and tidy
  18. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance? Umm I’d live in Disney World
  19. What would you do if you won the lottery? I’d freak, call all my closest friends and family and tell them I won. Depending on the amount I won, I’d first pay off my husband’s med school debt then I’d help my family pay off their debts. Then I’d go traveling and write in exotic locations.
  20. If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it? With my husband and family. Preferably in Disney because I have the most wonderful memories there.
  21. Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid? I know you all probably won’t believe me but I was nice. I was the good child who would always try to please my mom and dad. Now when I was an adult, I let my true nature come through lol
  22. What was the happiest moment in your life? The day I married my husband
  23. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Being a full time writer and hopefully a mother. The plan is to quit my day job when hubby is done with residency which will be in 5 years.
  24. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done? Honestly I haven’t really done any crazy things (I know, I know you probably don’t believe me lol)
  25. What is your definition of an incredible weekend? Getting to lie out on the beach with a good book and just relax
  26. Which is the best holidays you have ever had? My honeymoon in Disney World. It was my first time going and it was such a blast
  27. Have you got a phobia you want to share? Anyone who’s friends with me on Facebook has probably already guessed…spiders *shudder*
  28. What makes you angry? People who judge you without knowing you, those who lie, and those who betray their friends or family
  29. What do you do when you feel sad? Cry, listen to loud music, hug my dog, curl up with my husband
  30. Who or what inspires you? My friends inspire me to keep going with my writing. Music inspires some of my scenes, and a number of authors also inspire me. In particular, Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Nalini Singh, Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, Vickie McKeehan, Regan Black, Kallypso Masters, and pretty much every other indie author I’ve met.
  31. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
On October 31 Moon Rose Publishing is releasing an anthology of twisted fairy tales and my very first novella will be included!! It’s called Song of the Abyss and is loosely based on the Little Mermaid fairy tale.

Think you know your fairytales? Think again. These aren’t your normal happily-ever-after. Within these pages, a murderous Little Mermaid gets her revenge, the Cinderella doesn’t really want to wear the slipper, Snow White is up to her eyes in industrial experiments, and the Beauty is in fact the Beast.

This collection of four novellas will surprise you, make you gasp in horror, sigh with relief, and sit on the edge of your seat. And most of all…they will make you rethink everything you think you know about dark fairytales…

In addition, this December I plan to self-publish my first full-length novel, a paranormal romance called Breaking the Nexus. Here’s a little about it:

You know all those myths and legends you heard growing up? The ones that everyone always said were just made up stories? Well they were wrong; those tales were based on reality. The world you know is simply one realm, the Human Realm, and a magical barrier called the Nexus shields this realm from the truth. A second realm, the Mythrian Realm, exists, inhabited by all those creatures you thought were just fiction. The Nexus is breaking and the realms are colliding. Will you be ready?

Chantel Rhondeau is a writer and blogger that I met on Facebook. She offered me to be interviewed on her blog, and I offered her to be featured here in my "Meet the Author" series. I am always happy to meet new fellow writers. So, enough from me. Get to know her and enjoy.

  1. Describe yourself.  I’m a romantic suspense writer, but mostly I’m a mother. I love my kids more than anything--anyone who talks to me for very long will usually hear me bragging about something those kids do!
  2. What is your favourite fruit flavour? That’s a hard one. I love fruit. I guess apple or watermelon.
  3. What is your favourite day of the week? Friday - because I know the weekend is almost here!
  4. Which is your favourite time of the day? I love afternoon when it is almost time to quit my day job and write my fiction.
  5. Are you a morning person or a night person? I’ve always been a night owl.
  6. What is your favourite breakfast meal? Something really quick and easy. It’s so hard for me to get up in the morning (because of the night owl thing) that breakfast is usually just a glass of milk or something on the run.
  7. What is your favourite colour and why? Purple… I really can’t tell you why. It’s just pretty.
  8. Which is your most favourite book ever? I read so many books and I have so many favorites. I just finished Only In Her Dreams by Christina McKnight, however, and it was excellent. My favorite is probably whatever I’m currently reading.
  9. What kind of music do you like? Everything except rap. My favorites are country and 80’s music though.
  10. Which is your favourite genre of films? Romantic comedy or horror - what a combination, right?
  11. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth? Anywhere I can hear the ocean, a river, or a stream. I love moving water.
  12. Which animal would you want to be and why? A dolphin! Not only are they my favorite animal, they are super smart and get to live surrounded by water all the time. Plus, I love their playful natures.
  13. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you chose and why? I have no witty or profound answers for this. I’d choose three of my loved ones who have passed on. I miss them, and it would be great to have one more conversation with them.
  14. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for? Like a genie? Wow! I would want good health for my family members. I would use my other two wishes to give both of my children whichever thing they most desired. Maybe not…my son most desires to be on the SWAT force in Los Angeles and that scares me to death. My daughter would probably wish to be a pro bowler, which is a little easier to handle. Next question! I can’t answer this one ;-)
  15. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive? Yay! Stranded on a beach. How did you know my secret wish? That’s what I should’ve asked the genie for in the question above! 1. A fully loaded e-reader with more books stored in the “cloud.” 2. A computer with a never-ending power supply so I could write. 3. An umbrella, ‘cause too much sun makes me sick. 4. An endless supply of virgin margaritas (alcohol gives me headaches). 5. A really comfy beach chair.
  16. If you could be anyone, who would you be? I gotta be me! I sometimes envy other people, but I’ve got a pretty darn good life.
  17. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself? I’m actually really shy. I have a hard time meeting new people. I wish I was a little less afraid.
  18. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance? Hands down, swim with dolphins. I will do this one day!
  19. What would you do if you won the lottery? Take my entire family (my kids, my parents, my sisters and brothers, and their families) on a cruise and distribute the money equally so we could all live with a little padding between paydays.
  20. If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it? With my kids and spouse, playing cards and laughing. I’d also order a pizza, boneless chicken wings, and cook a roast. Hey, no reason to count calories if it’s the last day, right?
  21. Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid? I was always a nice kid. My brother likes to say suck up, but I don’t use that term.
  22. What was the happiest moment in your life? I honestly have so many of these, I can’t pinpoint just one. Every day I’m able to laugh about something is a happy moment.
  23. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Hopefully a wildly successful author making enough money from my books that I can write full time.
  24. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done? I hate to tell you this, but I’m rather boring. I do all sorts of crazy things in my imagination, and let my characters live that out, but in real life there’s not a lot of crazy going on.
  25. What is your definition of an incredible weekend? Picnic on the lake with my family in the summer. Finishing a good book wrapped up in my special blanket in the winter (with my cat, Gizmo, purring on my lap).
  26. Which is the best holidays you have ever had? (I’m going to assume you are talking vacations and not Christmas? If I’m wrong, let me know and I can change this answer). My family and I spent ten days on the coast in Oregon. I was lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the ocean. We had a campfire on the beach one night, hunted for sand dollars and seashells every morning, and went out whale watching on a little boat one afternoon.
  27. Have you got a phobia you want to share? I am afraid of tons of things! The worst though is spiders and any other creepy crawlies. Ewww! I’m shuddering just thinking about it, but a spider crawled on my arm yesterday…YUCK!
  28. What makes you angry? All the injustice in the world. I get so frustrated when I hear stories about a mother killing her children, bullies beating up someone because they are different, innocent people dying in senseless wars… really, almost anything on the news these days. They rarely share happy stories.
  29. What do you do when you feel sad? I put on my headphones and belt out a few songs at the top of my lungs (usually Shania Twain or Dixie Chicks). Since I’m not a good singer, everyone is happier if I stay happy.
  30. Who or what inspires you? I love hearing about other people’s successes. No matter how big or how small. So many people inspire me. If you have a happy story, send it my way!
  31. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.

I want to talk just a little about my true story written over two books: “Amelia’s Story” and Amelia’s Destiny.” I am so proud of these books. My heart and soul went into each and every word. I have written it for my daughter, who is currently three years old; of course it will be many years before she reads my story. But when she does I hope she will better understand her mother's journey and what I had to go through to reach this point in my life. I wanted my story to inspire a few people and now it has inspired thousands. I have received so many lovely messages from my readers all over the world, who have shared their own stories with me and confided in me. My story is a tragic one and not for the faint of heart, but I guarantee it will leave you inspired at the finish.

Heart and Mind” (a collection of contemporary poetry)

I would like to talk about my new book, “Heart and Mind” a collection of poetry which I have been writing for many years. This book is very close to my heart as many of the poems included in this inspirational and contemporary collection were born from personal experiences. This collection is designed to inspire people from all walks of life, whether you’re young, old, rich, poor, sad or happy! There is something for everyone. There is a message in many of the poems that are designed to inspire all those that read them. I believe that there is no better place to learn about compassion, love, trust, loyalty and friendship than the “University of Life.” Many obstacles are placed in our path throughout our life’s journey and it's how we deal with those obstacles that help to shape the person we become. These can only serve to make us stronger and wiser and eventually be in a position to share our wisdom with others. I hope you will all enjoy my heartfelt collection of poetry and feel inspired at the finish.

Monica La Porta is an author I met thanks to a group on Facebook. She is a great writer and person. But let's see what she has to say about herself and her writing...

  1. Describe yourself.
I was once tall, thin, tanned, and with a thick Italian accent. Height and accent haven’t changed.

  1. What is your favourite fruit flavour?
Italian strawberries; they’re small, juicy, and smell wonderfully.

  1. What is your favourite day of the week?
Monday, when my good intentions start anew.

  1. Which is your favourite time of the day?
Very early in the morning. The day is full of promises and the air is fresh and clean. Anything can happen.

  1. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Both, depending on the occasion, time of the month, astral conjunctions, perfume in the air, etc.

  1. What is your favourite breakfast meal?
Cappuccino and croissant when I’m in Italy. Fried steak, poached eggs, and ash browns when I’m in the States.

  1. What is your favourite colour and why?
Blue in every hue. It reminds me of my beloved Mediterranean Sea and calms me.

  1. Which is your most favourite book ever?
Eon by Greg bear, science fiction at its best.

  1. What kind of music do you like?
I like a variety of different genres, but lately I’ve been listening to groups like Of Monsters and Men, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, Awolnation, Efterklang, La Oreja De Van Gogh, Julieta Venegas, Joshua Radin. I like when music brings me faraway.

  1. Which is your favourite genre of films?
Science fiction.

  1. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth?
My house.

  1. Which animal would you want to be and why?
I wouldn’t, but if I have to, a puma; if I must transform into an animal I want to do so in style.

  1. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
Philip. K. Dick to ask him several questions I have about Ubik. Gabriel Garcia Marquez to tell him I read One Hundred Years of Solitude more times than I can remember, even in Spanish as it was meant to be. Ray Bradbury because his Martian Chronicles blew my mind when I was ten years old.

  1. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for? Cure my mom, help a person close to my heart find her way through life, make me accept what I don’t want to.
  1. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive? My Kindle, a charger, a way to convert swearwords into electricity (because as soon as my Kindle dies you’ll hear me ‘complaining,’ therefore better put my unhappiness to work otherwise item 2 is useless), a knife for all the magnificent sushi I’m going to eat, sunblock (I’m the only Italian who can’t stand the sun. I blame twelve years in Washington State for that.)

  1. If you could be anyone, who would you be?
Still me, but probably thinner and speaking several languages.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself?
Worrying about things I can’t change.

  1. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Travel forever

  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?

I was a nice but complicated kid.

  1. What was the happiest moment in your life?
The day I realized all I want I already have.

Writing.

  1. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
Can’t say.

  1. What is your definition of an incredible weekend?

  1. Which is the best holidays you have ever had?
Two years ago with my husband, kids visiting grandparents in Italy, we treated each other with small getaways for a month.

  1. Have you got a phobia you want to share?
Driving, but since it’s something I must do on regular basis I kind of got over it. Still, it isn’t something I look forward to do. I guess I managed to downgrade it from mild phobia to dislike. Still hopefully waiting for teletransportation to be invented.

  1. What makes you angry?
Racism.

  1. What do you do when you feel sad?
I cook. A lot.

  1. Who or what inspires you?
Colors, smells, memories.

  1. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
Yeah!
I write dystopian science fiction love stories. My latest project is a series called The Ginecean Chronicles and is set on the planet Ginecea, a dark, matriarchal version of Earth. On Ginecea, women rule over a race of enslaved men and heterosexual love is considered a perversion. I have already published The Priest and Pax in the Land of Women, respectively the first and the second book in the series. Currently, I’m working on the editing of Prince of War, the third installation in the Ginecean Chronicles. Meanwhile, I’m writing a fourth book set in the same universe.

The Priest
Mauricio is a slave. Like any man born on Ginecea, he is but a number for the pure breed women who rule over him with cruel hands. Imprisoned inside the Temple since birth, Mauricio has never been outside, never felt the warmth of the sun on his skin. He lives a life devoid of hopes and desires. Then one day, he hears Rosie sing. He risks everything for one look at her and his life is changed, forever. An impossible friendship blossoms into affection deemed sinful and perverted in a society where the only rightful union is between women. Love is born where only hate has roots and leads Mauricio to uncover a truth that could destroy Ginecea.

Pax in the Land of Women
Love doesn’t obey preordained rules. Sometimes, social status and gender mean nothing. The purest of affections can be born between two people living in different worlds. In a society where women rule over an enslaved race of men and love between a woman and man is considered a perversion, Pax’s and Prince’s union is destined for a tragic end. Coming from an existence of privilege, Pax has never endured harshness. She has never had any reason to doubt the rules Ginecea was built on. Everything changes when she is sent to spend her summer on a desolate farm and is exposed to the ongoing brutalities against defenseless men. A wrong turn leads her to witness Prince’s thrashing at the hands of the guards. One look from him and Pax’s perfect life is shattered, the memory of his dark eyes haunting her night and day. As a pure breed, born to one of the most prestigious family in Ginecea, she would have never thought it possible to fall in love with a man. Marked as a sinner, Pax abjures her ancestry to save Prince’s life. She hopes they can disappear into the desert, but social prejudice and political schemes give them no respite. The Priestess, the ruler of all Ginecea, has other plans for Pax Layan and her family.

Today I am thrilled to introduce here on my blog the lovely and funny Mardi Orlando, who never fails to make me smile or laugh, no matter how upset I am feeling. Thanks for that, Mardi :) If you love a good ghost story, you will love her writing. But let's Mardi talk about herself and her book...

  1. Describe yourself.
I’m a Libran so I have opposing forces battling it out – I’m still not sure whose going to win. Sensitive, compassionate, occasionally grumpy, always interested and curious and often silly and annoying but when I can pull it off and make my husband laugh (and not look at me like I’m a martian) it makes my day.
  1. What is your favourite fruit flavour?
 Blood Plumb.
  1. What is your favourite day of the week?
Any day I’m not at work.
  1. Which is your favourite time of the day?
About 3.30 on my days off – it’s when I sit down at my computer and start writing.
  1. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Night, definitely.
  1. What is your favourite breakfast meal?
Cereal.
  1. What is your favourite colour and why?
(Colours – sorry the Libran part can’t decide) Blue & Yellow. I think because they remind me of the ocean and the sand. The beach is everything to an Aussie girl.
  1. Which is your most favourite book ever?
Oh dear. Can’t do that one. Some books I’ve loved: The Alchemist, The Book Thief, scifi by Tanith Lee, Ursla LeGuinn, Arthur C Clarke, and all those hundreds of books in my scores of bookshelves.
  1. What kind of music do you like? Everything from classical to rock to blues.
  2. Which is your favourite genre of films?
Romance, yep I’m an old romantic – there’s just not enough of it in the world so we sing about it , write about it, make plays and movies about it and I love them all.
  1. Which is your most favourite place in this Earth?
Home. (But if I’m thinking big, I’d be pretty happy holed up on Santorini. Mmmmm.)
  1. Which animal would you want to be and why?
Oh, I so want to be a pelican! They fly so high, they live at the beach, they eat fish all day, they swim, they skim, they are beautiful.
  1. If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
Winston Churhill (fascinated by that era and his incredible life),  Rudyard Kipling (his life is fascinating and he wrote the Jungle Book!), and someone from the future, (I’m dying to know what it will be like).
  1. If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
That’s easy! LUCK. It’s the only wish you need.
  1. If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive? Assuming coconuts are already there…1. Several barrels of wine; 2. A nice (big) wine glass; 3. Hubby and our pets; 4.The new kindle they’re going to invent with eternal battery life;  5. A fluffy pillow.
  2. If you could be anyone, who would you be?
A less tired, slightly refurbished, paid (author), me.
  1. What is the one thing you wish you could change in yourself?
My battle with body image.
  1. What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Hang gliding.
  1. What would you do if you won the lottery?
Drink lots of nice champagne and then head off for that island…
  1. If you knew that this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?
Hmm, are all these questions about wine?
  1. Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid?
NICE! Oh wait a minute…
  1. What was the happiest moment in your life?
The day, after 4 weeks of surgeries and intensive care, that the doctors told me my husband would survive after his brain hemmorage.
  1. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Hopefully 3 more books under my belt and a contract in the mail (going back to the Publisher). Enjoying my life.
  1. What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
Went trekking around South East Asia for 3 months, came home, didn’t like being there, stayed for 1 night and then left again to head 4000 kilometres away (interstate – it is Australia … big) to live in Perth.
  1. What is your definition of an incredible weekend?
Sleep in, wake up to a sunshiny day, go for a walk along the beach, find some smooth pebbles to steal for my garden, play with my cats in the back yard, a bit of gardening, a bit of reading, a bit of writing and then being whisked out to dinner and maybe a movie to do it all again the next day - without the going out bit.
  1. Which is the best holiday you have ever had?
My first trip to Koh Samui, Thailand with my now husband 20 years ago. It was a haven back then. We stayed in a little hut on the beach, swam, explored, read and listened to music (no TV). We were so in love. It was heaven. We went back this year. We were still in love but the Koh Samui we knew was completely gone. We are going to explore the South Pacific next year and find that heaven again – yes as old people.
  1. Have you got a phobia you want to share?
 S.P.I.D.E.R.S.
  1. What makes you angry?
Selfishness, Cruelty, Closed minds, Hatred, Judgemental attitudes, Violence …. Stop me now, I’m getting grumpy.
  1. What do you do when you feel sad?
Sit out in the sunshine in my beautiful backyard and read something wonderful like The Book Thief.
  1. Who or what inspires you?
Who: People coping with disability or disease and those supporting them.
What: The elements.
  1. Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects. Woohoo.
SECRETS OF GHOSTS – MARDI ORLANDO

I was inspired after reading some stories about WW1 and was shocked at the devastation, massive casualties and all the other issues of the time like illness and starvation.  It took me a year to write and has been an incredible experience. The story spans 100 years and there are lots of twists and turns as we view the world in three different perspectives which all come together in a terrifying showdown.

“I know that if we fade before we are found we will never be able to go home. If we fade, we disappear as if we never existed. That is very dangerous for everyone, ghosted or not.”

PRESENT DAY
A group of misfit teens are left stranded in the icy wasteland of no-time. They are all from the Secret Society of Gifted Teens, but so far their gifts are hindered by the secrets they all carry. Sixteen-year-old Daffodil has escaped the Institution where she was sent after both her parents died. The abuse she received didn’t stifle her gift but it did prepare her for her first mission with The Secret Society of Gifted Teens. And now she finds herself trapped, with six other gifted strangers, all hiding secrets. When they find a group of ghosted orphans they quickly discover their mission. And that is when the battle for survival begins.

WORLD WAR ONE 1914+
Through static recordings we hear the stories of the ghosts ensnared in the abandoned church for nearly 100 years. In WW1, at the age of 14, OSCAR ghosted at the frontlines of Passchendaele where he fled to escape the loss of his entire family. Now, trapped in limbo, he is hiding in an abandoned church with his gathering of ghosted orphans trying desperately to find a way to save their souls. He is more powerful than they know but his determination is more damaging than he realizes. Through Static Recordings they call for help but slowly they are forgetting everything. If they forget to hide from the Shadow it will consume them, taking their existence-time, and that will be disastrous for everyone – living and dead.

BLACKWATER HERALD MOON TRIBUNE 1939+
Through newspaper articles we learn about the life of Madame Glizsnort and the curious sightings in Blackwater that caused such angst so long ago. Madame Glizsnort is responsible for trapping the teenagers, for even in death she is not released from her obsession to save her Lost Children. She manipulates the teens’ fears so that they will use their gifts and do what she has been unable to – after all she more than a vested interest in the outcome. When she suddenly disappears, the group makes an expedition to the ancient cemetery where they find several unmarked graves and where they discover the heinous power of the Shadow – it feeds off misery and shame and there is plenty of that here.

As Daffodil realizes that the teens are moving further and further away from the natural world, she manages to get this group of misfits to face the secrets that have tragically haunted their own lives. It is the only way to source their gifts. It is the only way to escape the Shadow. It is the only way they will survive. And time is running out…

A bit later today, but finally I managed to put together the interview corresponding to this series today. This time we are featuring Kevin Swarbrick, a British author of novels based on his own life. But let's see what he has to say about himself. Enjoy!

Describe yourself
Hi Cinta, first of all let me say thank you for having me on your blog, it’s a real pleasure to be here. My name is Kevin Mark Swarbrick. I am 37 years old and was born in Salford, Manchester, England.  I am hardworking, Loyal, Honest, Trustworthy, Reliable, Patient, Kind, Loving, Generous, Outgoing, Witty, Funny and last but not least charming person, so I am told!

What is your favourite fruit flavour?
My favourite fruit would have to be a Melon as I find them very refreshing.

What is your favourite day of the week?
With being self employed I would have to say Saturday as you’re more than likely guaranteed not to be working on Sunday.

What is your favourite time of the day?
When I arrive home from work and I can concentrate on my writing.

Are you a morning person or a night person?
I’m most definitely a night person, some people call me a night owl but I find it’s a lot easier to concentrate whilst writing. I don’t know why but my mind functions a lot better at silly o‘clock.

What is your favourite breakfast meal?
That’s easy! It would have to be a Full English.

Which is your favourite colour and why?
With also being a Decorator there’s a lot of colours out there, so I tend to stick to all the neutral and light colours, creams etc.

What is your most favourite book ever?
To tell you the truth, I haven’t been much of a reader due to my hectic lifestyle; it’s been more of a case of writing invoices and typing estimates and being in the wrong relationships. Since I’ve been writing over the last 2 years I have tried to do a lot more reading. Two authors I have been lucky to come across on my Journey are Charity Parkerson and Dawn Torrens. I enjoyed reading Wicked Sinners and also Amelia’s Story. I am currently between two books at the moment and they are Amelia’s Destiny by Dawn Torrens and The West Wing Script Book by Aaron Sorkin. The best one I would say I have read would be mine as I have never read the same book so many times in my life lol

What kind of music do you like?
I like anything from Dance to R N B, Soul, Reggae, Rap, pop, pretty much everything really providing it gets my feet tapping.

Which is your favourite genre of films?
I must say I do like my horrors and my comedies but I wouldn’t say I really had a genre.

What is your most favourite place in this Earth?
I would have to say my bed as I get to spend very little time in it and what time I do get to spend in it is heaven.

Which animal would you want to be and why?
That’s Easy! I would have to live up to my star sign. I am a Leo that would make me a lion; I’m king of the jungle, fearless against all and such a lovely animal.

If you could have a luncheon with any 3 people (real or fictitious), who would you choose and why?
First of all I would have to say Cheryl Cole wouldn’t go a miss, we could go for a nice romantic evening and the only Cole that will be on her fire would be me. If I wanted an action packed day I think I would have to stick with Bruce Willis, after all I have always fancied jumping out of planes and the rest. If I wanted a fun day I think hanging around with Michael Mcintyre would be awesome, that guy rules!

If you were granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
Peace on Earth, Love to all and a world without poverty.

If you were stranded on a lonely beach, what are the 5 things that you would want to survive?
I would have to start with some sun tan lotion after all if I am to survive the last thing I want to get, is sun stroke. I would make most of the peace and quiet and the tranquillity; I would need a fishing net and years supply of Snicker chocolate bars (I’m addicted to them). I would also need a axe to cut down trees to make a tent and make a fire.

If you could be anyone, who would it be?
That’s Easy! As Chesney Hawkes would sing (“I am the one and only”) ME!!

I probably would say trust, I do have a lot of trust issues going on under the service.

What is the one thing you wish you could do if given the chance?
Travel the world.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would look out for my close friends and family, I would have plenty of holidays as well as travelling the world, I would make most of time to relax and write.

If you knew this was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it?
 With the ones I love.

Were you a naughty kid or a nice kid?
I was a nice kid but I just kept getting in trouble all the time!!

What was the happiest moment in your life?
That’s a tricky question, I have had many great times but receiving your proof copies for your books through the post is a happy time for me.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Maybe by then my life will have taken a turn for the best with many stories out there for the world to enjoy, maybe I will have a family or maybe even a wife, who knows what 5 years can bring, all I can say for sure is that I will continue writing.

What is the weirdest/craziest thing you have ever done?
There are so many you will have to read my stories to know them all. Most of my life has been weird and crazy!

What is your definition of an incredible weekend?
Going away somewhere for the weekend with your loved one and having fun and a fantastic time.

Which is the best holiday you have ever had?
The best holiday I ever have been on is when I went to Kos in Greece with a couple of mates that was a lad’s holiday, I loved it.

Have you got a phobia you want to share?
No not really unless the shop runs out of hair gel!

What makes you angry?
Liars

What do you do when you feel sad?
Try to lose the bad thoughts by getting stuck into my weight training and I try to turn them bad thoughts into positive energy.

Who or what inspires you?
It’s crazy really what life has mapped out for you, but the main character in my books called Sarah, gave me the main inspiration to write.  It was Sarah who led me on this path.  I don’t want to say too much as it would spoil the story for you, but for me, with the way my life was with all its ups and downs, this character along with true friends gave me the drive to make this journey possible.

Congratulations! Now you can freely rant about your book(s) and/or projects.
The books that are complete are called ‘Louie Has Landed’ The Early Days and ‘Louie Has Landed’ The Second Encounter. You can find these on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. Louie has so far changed my life.  It’s amazing that people have connected to the realism and the truth behind my story. I had to write about Louie but after a year of thinking nothing else but writing, it was done and Louie was born for others to enjoy the suspense, fun and trauma that these stories hold. Deliciously scandalous, some would say. With over 42 characters in the books it is certainly a page turner, so I am told. These books are self published and out there for everyone to enjoy. I plan to finish this third book I am currently working on and also try to turn the Louie Has Landed story into script.  Hopefully, in the future, who knows, you might be watching Louie on your television, but no matter what, I will be continue writing many more stories for my readers to enjoy and relate to.

You can also find me in most places in cyber space. My username on all these networking sites is a really hard one to remember, here goes. Twitter you can find me @KevinSwarbrick, also you can find me on Goodreads, LinkedIn, PInterest, Author Central, Igoogle, LinkedIn and also Facebook by typing the same name Kevin Swarbrick, I did say it was a hard one to remember! There is also my author page on facebook but I do use my full name for that one ‘Kevin Mark Swarbrick’ I also run a facebook group called Authors and Readers.
